{"id":3497,"date":"2015-02-03T11:07:01","date_gmt":"2015-02-03T10:07:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/glandium.org\/blog\/?p=3497"},"modified":"2015-02-12T23:09:29","modified_gmt":"2015-02-12T22:09:29","slug":"looking-for-a-new-project-name-for-git-remote-hg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/glandium.org\/blog\/?p=3497","title":{"rendered":"Looking for a new project name for git-remote-hg"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you've been following this blog, you know I've been working on a (fast) <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/glandium\/git-remote-hg\/\">git remote helper to access mercurial<\/a> without a local mercurial clone, with the main goal to make it work for Gecko developers.<\/p>\n<p>The way git remote helpers work forces how their executable is named: For a <code>foo::<\/code> remote prefix, the executable must be named <code>git-remote-foo<\/code>. So for <code>hg::<\/code>, it's <code>git-remote-hg<\/code>.<\/p>\n<p>As you may know, there already exists a <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/felipec\/git-remote-hg\">project with that name<\/a>. And when I picked the name for this new helper, I didn't really care to find a separate name, especially considering its prototype nature.<\/p>\n<p>Now that I'm satisfied enough with it that I'm close to release it with a version number (which will be 0.1.0), I'm thinking that the confusion with the other <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/glandium\/git-remote-hg\">project with that name<\/a> is not really helpful, and an unfortunate implementation detail.<\/p>\n<p>So I'm looking for a new project name... and have no good idea.<\/p>\n<p>Dear lazy web, do you have good ideas?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;ve been following this blog, you know I&#8217;ve been working on a (fast) git remote helper to access mercurial without a local mercurial clone, with the main goal to make it work for Gecko developers.
