Is there a changelog or feature list comparing Fx 3 to 4 to 5? So far I have only been able to find marketing blurb about Fx4 which touts the Fx3 AwesomeBar as its most prominent feature…
> Seems like Iceweasel (therefore Debian) is getting slower and slower release.
Considering each upstream release is released for Debian within 24 hours and usually much less…
> By now, Iceweasel 4 should have at least be at unstable.
Getting Iceweasel 4 in unstable involves much more than putting Iceweasel 4 in unstable. If that was only that, it would have been in unstable for a while now.
> Hopefully the branding issue can be resolved asap (but I doubt) and Debian users can have a fairly updated Firefox/Iceweasel release.
I fail to see how both are supposed to be related.
How is the new Firefox release cycle going to affect Debian stable releases?
Surely you won’t be able to keep up continuously backporting new security fixes to old, unsupported versions. How will newer versions be made available to users?
PS: How soon is soon? I haven’t seen it at debian.mozilla.net yet :)

We’re still doing that for 3.0 in Lenny. It should still be possible.

As soon as some time this week, after the next round of security updates today/tomorrow.
Update: The next round of security updates was on thursday/friday, and there were a few issues, mostly due to the switch to gcc 4.6, to deal with, so the Iceweasel Aurora package is going to be slightly delayed.

Any pointer to release notes on 5.0a2? I haven’t managed to find any.

Josh: There are no release notes that I am aware of. https://wiki.mozilla.org/Features/Release_Tracking is the closest.
For the branding, nothing new, and for Iceweasel 4 in unstable, no idea yet.

Seems like Iceweasel (therefore Debian) is getting slower and slower release.
By now, Iceweasel 4 should have at least be at unstable.
Hopefully the branding issue can be resolved asap (but I doubt) and Debian users can have a fairly updated Firefox/Iceweasel release.

Out of curiosity: What are the main hassles involved?
